What is World ID for Zoom?

World ID for Zoom uses World ID verification to confirm that you are a real, unique person on video calls. It matches your Orb-verified image, a frame from your Zoom video, and a live selfie taken on your phone.

Key features:

  • Proof of Human backed by one-time Orb verification.
  • Automatic app startup once configured, with a phone notification when authentication is needed.
  • A live selfie check on your phone to complete authentication.
  • A Human Badge visible to everyone in the meeting after successful authentication.

Automatic startup does not complete authentication for you. When prompted, open the World ID notification on your phone and complete the live selfie check.

To manage how often employees authenticate again, see Setting your organization’s authentication frequency.

Employee setup

Prepare your World ID

  • Download the Zoom desktop app on macOS or Windows.
  • An iOS or Android phone with notifications enabled for World ID.
  • An Orb-verified World ID. Orb verification is a one-time process.

If you have not installed World ID on your phone, complete these steps before connecting to Zoom. If World ID is already installed, open it and sign in.

  1. Install the World ID app: App Store | Google Play
  2. Open the World ID app and sign in.

Sign-in help

If you previously used World App, sign in with the same login method you used to back up your account (Apple, Google, or passkey). Your Orb verification carries over automatically.

If you are new to World ID or are not yet Orb-verified, complete Orb verification before continuing. If your World ID is already connected to Zoom, go directly to the meeting authentication steps.

Start after your administrator confirms World ID is available on your corporate Zoom account. If installation or a managed Zoom setting is blocked, contact your IT team.

If you need Orb verification, follow your employer’s arrangements or find an available Orb location. You do not need to repeat Orb verification if your account is already verified. See: What to expect at an Orb

Connect your corporate Zoom account

  1. Open World ID on your phone and tap Connect your Zoom account on the home screen banner.

  4. Sign in to your corporate Zoom account.

  5. Follow the prompts to return to World ID, then tap Enable when asked to enable notifications.

Account connection is a one-time setup. Future authentication requests ask you to complete a live selfie when prompted.

Use World ID in meetings

  1. Start or join a meeting in the Zoom desktop app with your camera on.
  2. The World ID panel should open automatically after setup. If it does not, select More → Apps → World ID.
  3. Look into your Zoom camera while a frame is captured.

Continue in World ID app - Notification.png
  4. After a Zoom frame is captured, you will receive a push notification in the World ID app.
  5. Open the World ID notification on your phone and complete the live selfie check.
    1. Ensure even lighting across your face.
    2. Remove anything covering your face.
    3. Hold your device at eye level.
  6. Look for It’s a match! Your Human Badge then appears in Zoom.

Your organization controls when another authentication is required. Account connection is completed once; a later authentication request asks for another live selfie.

Understand your Human Badge

The Human Badge gives meeting participants a visible signal that you completed authentication. People can see the badge without installing World ID. To inspect the authentication certificate, they need the app installed and running.

Keep your camera on and the World ID app running in Zoom for the badge to remain visible.

Participant status

Verified means the participant completed authentication. Not Verified means they have not completed it or do not currently hold a valid badge.

When authentication expires, follow the renewal prompt in World ID and keep your Zoom camera on. The account connection does not need to be repeated.

For the administrator’s cadence settings and badge-status information, see Setting your organization’s authentication frequency.

Meeting video and access notices

World ID matches a frame from your Zoom video with your Orb-verified image and a live selfie taken on your phone. Video is used solely for human verification.

Zoom may display a meeting-content access notice to attendees, including people who do not use World ID. The notice appears because verification accesses meeting video.

Hosts can explain: “We’re using World ID to verify participants. Zoom displays this notice because verification uses meeting video.”

Troubleshooting

World ID does not open automatically

Employees: select More → Apps → World ID. If the problem continues, contact your IT team. Admins: check user assignment and central auto-open and auto-start settings, including internal and external meetings.

I do not receive the phone notification

Enable World ID notifications on your phone. If Zoom displays Resend, try it. If the notification still does not arrive, ask your administrator to confirm assignment and central meeting-access settings.

Continue in World ID app - Notification.png

Authentication fails or my badge is missing

Turn on the Zoom camera, face it directly in good lighting, and remove anything covering your face. Complete the phone selfie and confirm a successful match. If you use an external monitor, look toward the camera. If the issue continues, reopen World ID and ask IT to check deployment settings.

The panel says Waiting for host

Confirm the meeting has begun, then reopen World ID. If the message persists, report the issue and contact support.

An external participant cannot install World ID

The participant’s own organization may restrict app installation. Sharing an app invitation does not bypass those restrictions. Ask them to check the Marketplace listing for installation or approval options and contact their Zoom administrator if needed.

Manage your connection

Each World ID can connect to one Zoom account at a time. Disconnect the current account before switching.

Disconnect Zoom.png

Removing the Zoom app and disconnecting the World ID account link are separate actions. To remove the Zoom app, open Zoom App Marketplace → Manage → Added Apps, find World ID, and select Remove. Disconnect the World ID account link separately if you want to unlink the accounts.

If your organization manages app installation or removal, contact IT before changing the deployment.

Get help

Contact your IT administrator about user assignment, managed Zoom settings, or employer-arranged Orb verification. For further assistance, use Getting help and contacting support.

To report a technical issue, open the World ID panel and select Report an issue. Describe the problem, review the consent request for sharing the report and related verification data, then submit. A bug report does not open a support conversation.

  1. Open the World ID app on your mobile device
  2. Tap your Profile icon on the top left corner of the screen
  3. Select Support
  4. Tap the headset icon to proceed

Be sure to share as much detail as you can, and provide any screenshots that will help describe your issue.
