What is World ID for Zoom?
World ID for Zoom confirms that the person behind the screen is the same as the person shown on screen, and that they’re actually human. An official partnership with Zoom, World ID for Zoom is available as a native integration from the Zoom App Marketplace.
Why is this important?
- Deepfake technology can now impersonate faces and voices on video calls faster than traditional defenses can catch them. Attackers are already using this technology to fake the likeness of executives and employees.
- In the worst cases this leads to significant financial loss, disclosure of confidential information and reputational damage.

Here’s how to set up:

Download the World ID app on your mobile device and complete set up.
Please add any additional log-in methods when prompted so you can access your account later.

Verify your World ID at an Orb in the office.
The Orb is a secure device that proves you are a unique human without needing your name or personal info.
- Visit an Orb in the office. Start the verification in World ID app and follow the steps in the app. This takes only two minutes.
- Receive your verified World ID and prove you’re a unique human online.
A few tips for verifying:
- Remove glasses, colored/hard contacts, hair covering the eyes and face coverings.
- When verifying, stand about a foot away and focus on the center of the Orb.
- Hold your phone next to the Orb.

Keep your eyes wide open and stand still while the Orb takes photos.

Set up your World ID.
Via the onboarding email you have received, please follow the prompted flow on your mobile device which will ask you to take a live selfie. The selfie is compared with the images taken at the Orb to confirm a match.

Connect World ID to Zoom
In World ID app, click the Zoom banner and sign in to your Zoom connect to complete the one-time connection.

Use World ID for Zoom.
Your meetings will now show your Human Badge, proving you’re human and not a deepfake. When a meeting starts, you’ll be prompted to take a quick selfie.

How does it work?
World ID for Zoom conducts a 3-way cryptographic match between the participant’s face image taken by a hardware device (called “the Orb”), face image from a live selfie and face image shown on screen.
The image taken by the Orb at verification cannot be manipulated. All three must match for authentication to succeed.
Participants visit an Orb (installed at their workplace, delivered to their door or at one of the many locations worldwide) to complete the one-time anonymous verification. They’ll receive their verified World ID and complete a one-time connection to their Zoom account.
After joining a meeting, the participant will take a selfie to confirm they’re human and not a deepfake. If the authentication succeeds, the Human Badge will appear native on their participant tile. The Human Badge is visible to all meeting participants.

What's the benefit for you?
If you verify at the Orb and use World ID for Zoom, you’ll get a visible "Verified Human" badge on your Zoom video feed, giving everyone in the meeting a visible signal of trust that you're a unique human, not a deepfake. You are also helping protect your organization against malicious deepfake attacks.
What is the Orb and what data is processed?
The Orb is a secure device that proves you are a unique human on a global scale, without needing your name or personal info. It takes images of your face and eyes to verify you are a unique human. Those images stay in your personal custody, encrypted on your phone and you can delete the images at any point. For more info, please see world.org/privacy.
Is my biometric data shared with Zoom or World?
No. The match runs entirely on your phone, and your biometric data never leaves your device. Iris data is processed on the Orb and split into multiple encrypted, anonymous fragments. The images themselves are encrypted, delivered to your device inside your Personal Custody Package, and permanently deleted from the Orb within seconds. You can delete your data any time in World ID app under your profile when you tap Privacy & Security. Only your World ID app username and your verification status is shared with Zoom.
How does this product differ from other deepfake solutions?
Unlike other deepfake solutions that use heuristics to make predictions based on real-time frame and/or audio detection, World ID for Zoom uses deterministic proofs to confirm the participant is human, not a deepfake and the owner of the Zoom account. It’s not predictive AI guesswork, but a verifiable cryptographic match with unmatched accuracy. Unlike other products, World ID for Zoom will never decay as AI content improves.

Getting Started
Prerequisites
- The World ID app installed on your mobile device (iOS or Android)
- An Orb-verified World ID
- Notifications enabled for the World ID app on your device
Note: World ID for Zoom is currently available on Zoom Desktop only. You will need your mobile device to complete the process via World ID app.
App Installation Steps
Note: World ID for Zoom is installed by your organization's IT Administrator from the Zoom Marketplace. Once installed, the app will appear automatically in your Zoom side panel — no action needed on your end.
Step 1 — Connect your World ID
Your World ID must be Orb-verified to complete this step.
Via QR code
- When you join a Zoom meeting, a QR code will appear automatically in the Zoom side panel.
- Scan the QR code with your phone's camera and follow the on-screen instructions.
- The Zoom mini app will open, showing two steps: Connect your World ID and Sign in to your Zoom.
- Tap Connect your World ID.

Tap Sign in to Zoom next to be redirected to Zoom. After a successful sign in on Zoom, you will be redirected back to World ID app and see the You're connected screen.
Step 2 — After connecting World ID
If connection is successful:
- You'll see a "You're connected" screen.
- You'll be prompted to Enable notifications. You must enable notifications to receive World ID for Zoom authentication prompts on your phone. Notifications are used exclusively for authentications — not for any other product or marketing purposes.
- Tap Open Zoom App to return to Zoom.
If connection fails:
- You'll see: "Something went wrong — The connection couldn't be completed. Please try again."
- Tap Try again to retry, or Home screen to return later.
Step 3 — Sign in to Zoom (first time only)
If you're not already signed in to Zoom:

You'll be redirected to the Zoom sign-in page in your browser.

Sign in using your enterprise Zoom account.
- Once signed in, your World ID for Zoom connection is complete.
Using World ID for Zoom
During a Zoom meeting
Once connected, World ID for Zoom works automatically:
- When you join a meeting for the first time, or after your authentication has expired (every 24 hours), the Zoom side panel displays: Prove you're a real human.

If the app can't capture a clear frame, you'll see We need a clearer frame. Hold still and try again. Face your camera directly, ensure good lighting, and hold still.

Once a clear frame is captured, the side panel will prompt you to Continue in World ID app.
- You will receive a notification in the World ID app that prompts you to complete the authentication process.
- You'll be taken to the Confirm it's you screen. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the selfie verification:
- Ensure even lighting across your face.
- Remove anything covering your face.
- Hold your device at eye level.
- Your status will appear as Pending on the Zoom side panel while the match is being confirmed.
- The app will process your match. You'll see It's a match! when successful. Tap Done.
- Once verified, a Human Badge appears next to your name, visible to all participants.

Note: Your authentication persists for 24 hours across all your Zoom meetings. You will not be prompted to authenticate again during that time. You must keep the World ID for Zoom app running in the Zoom side panel for your badge to remain visible on your video stream.
If you didn't receive the authentication notification
- In the Zoom side panel, tap Resend to send the authentication notification to your phone again.
- If you have notifications disabled, open the World ID app and navigate to the Notification Center (bell icon) to manually start the authentication process.
What participants see
- A Human Badge on your video tile
- Your verification status in the participant list
- A certificate confirming your World ID for Zoom authentication when clicked
Note: Viewing the full certificate requires the World ID for Zoom app to be installed on the participant's Zoom client.
Check a participant's authentication status
In the participant list, each participant shows one of two statuses:
- Verified: the participant has completed World ID for Zoom authentication. Their Human Badge is visible to everyone in the meeting.

Not Verified: the participant has not completed authentication yet.
Reporting an issue via Zoom
The World ID for Zoom app has a built-in Help panel in the Zoom side panel:
Report an issue: Submit a bug report directly from Zoom:
- Open the World ID for Zoom side panel in Zoom.
- Tap the Report an issue icon at the bottom left.
- Describe your issue in the text field.
- Check the box to confirm you agree to share the report and related verification data with TFH.
- Tap Submit.
Removing the App / Disconnecting World ID from Zoom
Disconnect via the World ID app (mobile)
- Open the World ID app on your mobile device.
- Navigate to the Zoom mini app.
- From the "You're connected" screen, tap Disconnect.
- A confirmation prompt will appear: "Are you sure you want to disconnect your Zoom account?"
- Tap Disconnect to confirm.
What happens when you disconnect:
- The connection between your World ID and your Zoom account is fully deleted.
- Your World ID for Zoom application will no longer work.
- Your Human Badge will no longer appear in meetings.
- No biometric data is stored — disconnecting removes all link records.
- You can reconnect at any time by repeating the setup process.
Remove the app from your Zoom account
- Go to marketplace.zoom.us.
- Click Manage → Added Apps.
- Find World ID for Zoom and click Remove.
- Confirm removal.
Note: Removing the app from the Zoom Marketplace does not delete the link between your Zoom account and your World ID. To fully delete all data, disconnect via the Zoom mini app in the World ID app first.
Troubleshooting
Turn on your camera
World ID for Zoom requires your camera to be enabled. If you see a "Turn on your camera" prompt, enable your camera in Zoom before or during the meeting.
Authentication failed
If you see this error:
- Tap Try again.
- Ensure your camera is on and your face is clearly visible.
- Make sure you are in good lighting.
- If the issue persists, contact support.
Waiting for host to enable World ID for Zoom
If you see Waiting for host to activate World ID for Zoom, the meeting host needs to activate it for the meeting. Contact the meeting host directly if this is unexpected.
Connection failed — "Something went wrong"
If you see "Something went wrong — The connection couldn't be completed. Please try again":
- Tap Try again.
- Check your internet connection and make sure your World ID app is up to date.
- If the issue persists, tap Home screen and try again later.
I didn't receive the authentication notification

In the Zoom side panel, tap Resend.
- Make sure notifications are enabled for the World ID app on your device.
- Make sure notifications are enabled for the Zoom mini app within the World ID app.
- If notifications remain disabled, open the World ID app and navigate to the Notification Center (bell icon) to start the authentication process manually.
Notifications are disabled
If you see "Your notifications are disabled":
- Tap Go to Settings.
- Enable notifications for the World ID app in your device settings.
- Return to the app.
Could not match you
If you see a Could not match you error, face matching between your World ID and your live camera feed failed.
- Tap I Understand to try the flow again.
- Ensure your camera is on and your face is clearly visible and centered.
Authentication stuck on Pending
If your status remains Pending after completing live selfie in the World ID app, re-trigger authentication from the Zoom side panel or rejoin the meeting.
Using an external monitor
If face authentication is failing and you are using an external monitor, look directly at your laptop or primary camera instead. The app cannot capture a clear facial image if your camera cannot see your face directly.
Multiple or overlapping pop-ups
If a stale Open Zoom App modal is blocking the Connect World ID prompt, swipe or dismiss the old one to proceed. If you are a meeting host, you can reject duplicate pop-ups from the participants panel.

Is my biometric data shared with Zoom?

What information is shared with Zoom when I connect?
Only your World ID app username and your Unique Human verification status are shared.
Authentication & Meetings
Do I need to authenticate every time I join a meeting?
No. Once verified, your verification persists for 24 hours across all your Zoom meetings. You will not be prompted to authenticate again during that time.
What if my camera is off when I join a meeting?
World ID for Zoom requires your camera to be enabled to display your Human Badge. Enable your camera before or during the meeting to activate authentication.
Do I need to go through the full setup again when my authentication expires?
No. Re-authentication is just a quick face scan. No account setup needed.

What is an Orb-verified World ID? What if I'm not Orb-verified?
An Orb-verified World ID carries a Proof of Human created when you visit a World Orb — a biometric device that verifies you are a real, unique person. World ID for Zoom requires Orb verification. If you are not yet Orb-verified, visit world.org to find an Orb location near you.
Can I use World ID for Zoom on multiple Zoom accounts?
Each World ID can only be connected to one Zoom account at a time. Disconnect from the current account first to switch. Note: disconnecting also deletes any existing authentication Human Badge.
Is World ID for Zoom available on all Zoom plans?
World ID for Zoom is currently available for Enterprise Zoom accounts only.
Is World ID for Zoom available on mobile Zoom?
World ID for Zoom is currently available on Zoom Desktop only. However, you will need your mobile device (iOS or Android) to complete the verification via the World ID app.
Does World ID for Zoom work on Linux?
No. it works on macOS and Windows only.
Can I use World ID on more than one device?
Yes. Once you have a login method set up, you can log in to the same World ID account on multiple devices, such as a work phone and a personal phone. Note that each device can only be linked to one account.
How do I back up my World ID?
World ID is backed up through login methods — iCloud and Google Drive backups are no longer supported. Go to Settings → Account in the World ID app to add a Passkey, Google account, or Apple account (iOS only). We recommend adding more than one. Learn more →
How do I restore my World ID on a new or different device?
Open the World ID app, tap Log In (not Sign Up), and select a login method you previously saved. Moving between iOS and Android is supported via a Google account login method. Note: Apple Passkeys cannot be used for cross-platform recovery, and passkey setup requires iOS 18 or later. Learn more →
Can I lose access to my World ID? What are my recovery options?
Yes — if you lose your device without a login method set up, your account cannot be recovered. World ID is self-custodial and our support team cannot restore access on your behalf. Recovery is only possible if you previously saved a login method (Passkey, Google, or Apple account). Learn more →

Do other participants need World ID for Zoom installed to see my badge?
No. Your Human Badge is visible to all participants regardless of whether they have World ID for Zoom installed. However, participants who want to view your full authentication certificate must have the World ID for Zoom app running in their Zoom client.
Can I report a bug from within Zoom?
Yes — open the Help panel in the World ID for Zoom side panel and select "Report an issue."
What if authentication fails multiple times?
If repeated attempts fail: ensure even lighting, camera is on, and face is unobstructed. If problems persist, use the in-app bug report or contact support via World ID app (see Contact Support).
Why did I receive multiple authentication requests?
If multiple participants need to authenticate their humanity in the same Zoom meeting, the meeting host may receive multiple notifications. Each notification represents a separate authentication request for a participant.

Setting your organization's authentication frequency
World ID for Zoom asks employees to authenticate again on a schedule you set. Once an employee authenticates, their Human Badge appears automatically in every Zoom meeting until that window expires.
Where to find the setting
Select Integrations in the sidebar, then World ID for Zoom. The panel that opens shows your connection status and a Configuration section containing Verification frequency.
Choosing a frequency
The setting controls how often employees must authenticate again before joining a Zoom call. Four intervals are available: 24 hours, 7 days, 15 days, and 30 days. 24 hours is selected by default.
A shorter interval means an employee's Human Badge always reflects a recent authentication, and employees are prompted more often. A longer interval means fewer prompts, and a longer gap between an employee's last authentication and the meeting they are in.
What employees experience
When a window expires, the Zoom side panel prompts the employee to authenticate at the start of their next meeting. Re-authentication asks them to take a live selfie, and there is no setup to repeat.

Checking who has authenticated
Across your organization
Analytics has a World ID for Zoom tab showing how the integration is being used.
Two charts track the Human Badge over time, a cumulative count of users holding one and the number of unique users. You can switch both charts between monthly and weekly views.
For one employee
Open Employees and select a person. Their profile shows, alongside their World ID status and team:
- Zoom Human Badge. When their current badge expires, for example Expires in 22 hours, or Not verified if they do not currently hold one.
- World ID for Zoom authentication cadence. The interval that applies to them.
This is where to look when you need to know whether a specific person will join their next meeting with a Human Badge.
The portal shows whether a badge is currently valid and when it expires. It does not show a history of past authentications.

What is Face Authentication and how does it work?
What is Face Authentication?
Face Authentication, or Face Auth, helps confirm that the person using World ID app is the same person who previously verified at an Orb.
After you verify at an Orb and claim Proof of Human, World ID app may ask you to complete Face Authentication when you access certain features or need to confirm it’s still you. Face Authentication uses your phone’s camera to compare your face with the reference image associated with your Orb verification. This helps protect your World ID from unauthorized access.
Face Authentication is not a World ID Proof. It does not prove your identity to another app, and it is not the same as Proof of Presence. Proof of Presence lets you prove you’re present with just a selfie. Face Authentication helps you authenticate to your own Orb-verified World ID.
How does it work?
Orb verification: First, you verify in person at an Orb and claim Proof of Human. During this process, the Orb captures images of your face and eyes to verify that you are a unique human.
Face Authentication: Later, World ID app may ask you to complete a face match. Using your phone’s front camera, the app checks whether the person using the app matches the reference from your Orb verification.
Access confirmed: If the match succeeds, you can continue to the feature or action you were trying to use.
This all happens on your device. No images or biometric data leave your phone.
Using Face Authentication
Before starting the Face Authentication process, the app will prompt you to prepare:
- Ensure there's even lighting on your face
- Remove glasses, hats, or any face coverings
- Hold your phone at eye level
Once you tap Start, the camera will open and begin checking.
During the scan, the app will give you real-time guidance if it detects a problem. For example:
- "Center your face in the frame" — adjust your position so your face is fully visible in the oval
- "Turn your face to directly face the camera" — face straight ahead
- "Remove your glasses" or "Remove anything covering your face" — glasses, masks, hair, or hands can interfere with the check
- "Lighting is too bright / too dim" — move to a location with more even, moderate light
- "Ensure only you are in the frame" — only the person being verified should be visible to the camera
- "Hold your phone steady and ensure the camera is clean" — motion blur or a dirty lens can cause the check to fail
Once the check is complete, the screen will confirm whether the authentication succeeded. If it fails, you will be able to retry.
What can I do if Face Authentication fails?
Please try the following before retrying:
- Make sure your World ID app is up to date
- Ensure even, moderate lighting by avoiding very bright sunlight or dim rooms
- Remove glasses, hats, masks, or anything covering your face
- Make a neutral expression and keep your eyes open
- Hold your phone steady at eye level and ensure the camera lens is clean
- Make sure only you are in the camera frame
- Restart your device and try again
- Disable any VPN if in use
- Turn off power saving mode on your device, as this can affect camera performance
